My 2nd knit project

Here is the pattern for my second completed knit project.
I'm so EXCITED!!! I have often looked at pictures of these round dishcloths and wished that I could make them. Now I can!!!
I may actually get to those long lusted after socks!

Yes, they ARE watching you!

This could be any quiet street in any town. It happens to be across from the main library in Charleston, WV, the city where I work. The Coffee Bean is closed, but you get the feeling someone is watching you.

Let's cross the street and go a little closer. Hmmm. Still not too sure about that being watched feeling.

...what the...?

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There in the corner is the culprit! He's been there watching all the time. I can't figure out if he's trapped there in the bricks or if he is creeping out.

Just remember, they ARE there, and they ARE watching.

I'm so very excited. This is my first dishcloth. The pattern is a basketweave located at http://www.bevscountrycottage.com/basketweavecloth.html

To the untrained eye this is only a simple dishcloth with the ends still needing woven in....but to me it is the start of scarves, shawls, SOCKS (how I adore handknit socks!) and more! Thanks to all my buddies who encouraged me I am happily knitting and purling and about to embark on learning about wonderous things like cable needles and psso and button holes!

Snow business

We had a small storm overnight resulting in a whopping 1 inch of snow on the ground. However, when you are a small dog with short legs, even that can pose a problem. Bill and I had fun watching the "good kids" play.

1st FO of the year

Going through my patterns the other day with the idea of downsizing my pattern stash and I ran across and AA Christmas Stocking book. So, with Christmas over, I decided to make stockings of all things. Here is my first FO of 2009. Hubby likes this really well so it will be his stocking for next Christmas. Only about 11.5 months left for me to complete mine!

2009

Surprisingly enough I am off to a good start. I return to work tomorrow and have my overtime schedule figured out. Also have plans to take the "learn to knit" dvd to work and use that during lunch until I finally remember how to do this stuff! My friends have so many lovely knit items they have made and I've had enough of wanting to know how to do it. Besides, my crochet madness phase is winding down at the moment. (and I lust for hand knit socks)

I have broken the news to Max that I was not really a permanent stay at home Mommy and must return to work in the morning. I will be off to make the dog food money. Does he not look put out?
So many things are going on in our lives that are positive. Bill will be on official payroll as of January 20, with a raise! (yay! Dog food money!) I have been assigned officially to a unit at work and have avoided being part of the "big move", much to my relief. I also have plans to take a flamework class in May and possibly spinning classes in the fall unless I manage to nail down a family friend that spins.
